[UPDATED]
Both of Pima’s teams had impressive debuts today. I’ll have more in the Sentinel later, but here’s some quickie summaries to whet your appetites:
- Men: Pima Aztecs 5 – Glendale Gauchos 1
- Scoring summary:
- PIMA: J. C. Henson (8′)
- PIMA: Tyler Terrel (16′)
- GCC: Prince Gbeadeh (41′)
- PIMA: Declan Fulton (46′)
- PIMA: Fulton (69′)
- PIMA: Henson (87′)
- Pima’s men dominated Glendale in the second half, with both Buena High School graduates earning braces. Freshman Chase Brennan managed the back line that kept Glendale from having many high percentage shots.
- Women: Pima Aztecs 6 – Glendale Gauchos 1
- Scoring summary:
- PIMA: Robyn Tolin (10′)
- GCC: Judith Vizchara (21′)
- PIMA: Camie Barbera (33′)
- PIMA: Barbera (68′)
- PIMA: Barbera (71′)
- PIMA: Ivonne Herrera (78′)
- PIMA: Kathy Fisher (85′)
- Just to give you an idea: Robyn Tolin had five shots on goal, and the entire line-up of Glendale had six. And Tolin wasn’t even the leading shot taker for the team. Kathy Fisher led that category with seven. The first half was shaky at times, but the second was near perfect.
