How Flair Is Punished!

Lots-o-Goals

July 17, 2012

Andres Cantor is probably glad that he doesn’t cover Major League Soccer games anymore. He would have had to use a lot of Cepacol.

Three games this weekend featured at least four goals by the winning team. Two were absolute drubbings.

You want highlights? You’ve got highlights.

San Jose Earthquakes v Real Salt Lake

Best two teams in the West…it should have been a high scoring contest. A red card for RSL’s Kyle Beckerman meant that it was only high scoring for San Jose. Arizona boy Alan Gordon put one in.

Los Angeles v Portland Timbers

Yep, Los Angeles’s offense ran roughshod over Portland. But, given that it’s LA, Portland’s offense also ran roughshod over Los Angeles.

Houston Dynamo v DC United

Houston with a surprisingly dominant performance…or was it DC United’s sonamulance…or…Nick DeLeon’s new haircut?

Well, Bill Hamid’s red card couldn’t have helped either.

That’s all nice, but MLS had nothing on some European matches this weekend.

Galatasaray SK 11 – SV Kirchbichl 0

In case you are curious, SV Kirchbichl is a lower division Austrian club.

Shaktar Donetsk 6 – FC Arsenal Kyiv 0

No, not that Arsenal…

And finally, I don’t have video of it, only this Italian language account of SS Lazio’s 14-0 defeat of the team in Auronzo di Cadore, their off season retreat.
