The Copa México is back after a decade and a half. Unfortunately, the masters of the Mexican game have decided in their not-so-infinite wisdom to not open it up to teams of all levels and it is not a knock-out tournament.
Instead, it will have a group stage and a “liguilla” knock out stage. Since group stage games are home-and-away series, the possibilities for upsets are limited. It’s those upsets that make the FA Cup and the US Open Cup interesting to watch. We’ll see how this turns out.
