How Flair Is Punished!

Donny Toia scored his first PDL goal yesterday against league champions Fresno Fuego. It was his first goal in a competitive match since his days with the Pima Aztecs.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as Tucson lost 2 – 1.

I spoke to Rick Schantz last night who, despite the loss, was happy with his team’s performance. I’ll have more of his comments in the Sentinel later this morning. Schantz also told me that the coaches for Fresno were very impressed with FC Tucson and expected the team would be one of the better ones in the conference.

Up North, the Phoenix Monsoon forfeited its match to FC Hasental. I don’t know about the reasons for this, but it certainly won’t help the team from escaping from the bottom of the NPSL table. I hope they can get their act together. A strong team in Phoenix is good for soccer here.

And as a lifelong Tucsonan, I hate saying that.
