We’ve all heard the Robbie Keane to the Galaxy story. The move hasn’t been officially announced, which led to an odd story that the Sounders were actually going to get him. The rumor was considered so silly that even the folks at MLS Rumors tweeted that it was ridiculous.
The speculation has turned to the future of Juan Pablo Ángel. Given his DP status, lack of production and salary, Los Angeles is surely looking to shop him around. There is talk about him retiring from the game all together. I’m not quite there, but he’s probably looking at a salary cut when he moves to his next team.
There is talk about Ángel moving on to Chivas USA. The Goats have been connected to a couple of DPs and are high on the allocation list, but haven’t had that big move yet, unless you count Brazilian journeyman David Júnior Lopes, and I don’t.
Reports are, by the way, that Chivas jefe Jorge Vergara put the kibosh on Chivas USA picking up Freddy Adu. Whether the concerns were financial or if Vergara wanted to keep the “Mexican” character of the team is being debated on the boards. Is Chivas USA still “Mexican”?
Anyway, Revs v Columbus today. I liked what I saw last week, especially from Diego Fagundez. We’ll see how it goes.
