The referee strike in Liga MX is over, meaning that games are back on. Per Jon Arnold of Goal.com, the league announced Monday that it was going to suspend Toluca’s Eric Triviero and América’s Pablo Aguilar for a full year, rather than the ten and eight week bans initially handed out to the two players for assaulting referees.
This means that tonight’s Copa MX games are on again. These are the semifinals, folks. Times are MST.
- Santos Laguna v Cruz Azul (Torreón), 5:30 pm – Univision Deportes
- Tijuana v Morelia (Tijuana), 7:30 pm – Univision Deportes
- Monterrey v Puebla (Guadalupe), 8 pm
- Guadalajara v Juárez (Guadalajara), 8:30 pm
I couldn’t find broadcast details for the last two matches. It may be that schedules and listings changed because of the strike. If the Indios/Chivas game isn’t being shown, that’s too bad because Juárez is the last remaining lower division team left in the tournament. We will miss out on seeing the underdog versus the biggest villains in Mexican football.
