- I talked to Prairie Rose Clayton yesterday, and she asked me if any of my teams won this weekend. She’s a Revs and Breakers fan, so her answer was no. My answer is one: Jaga beat Zagłębie Lubin, which means two in a row for them. Tadas Kijanskas and Ermin Seratlić scored, and Zagłębie finished the game with only nine men. Jaga has found its form again, but their slump has left them six points back from league leading Wisła Kraków. Ekstraklasa.tv has the highlights.
- My favorite goal of the weekend was Polonia Warszawa’s Łukasz Piątek, who scored early in the first half of a match against Polonia Bytom. “Criminally unmarked,” I believe we’d say. Long time Reading FC fans would no doubt like that “Piątek” means “Friday.”
- How bad off is the Polish team these days? Check out this ad from Beidronka, a Polish grocery chain that sponsors the Polish national team. The ad features Polish Nats coach Franciszek Smuda announcing the new team, seemingly read alphabetically from a phone book. The tag line at the end is “Everybody deserves a chance…”
