Yee-Haw, It’s A Round-Up
by tedski
Okay…I only caught the two games on Fox yesterday. Excuse me for trying to get some semblance of a life.
Here is why I have some reason to hope for the Revs…three goals from three people none of whom were named “Twellman.” Those of us that follow the team know that the last third of the season it seemed that only Twellman would score. Well, now we are getting scoring from players who spent last season mostly on the bench. It’s the depth that we were hoping for.
Question: Why do Houston’s jerseys only have the one star? I mean given who they got them against, I shouldn’t be so picky…
LA v Colorado…geez. What the heck was that? Yes, everyone is complaining about the “questionable” call that gave Colorado a PK that caused LA to fall apart. Given what I saw early in the game, it really didn’t take much for LA to fall apart. I missed the foul that led to the PK (I was away from the teevee), but I did see the last ten minutes of the game, and yep, those guys were fully capable of pulling some nonsense.
My question: why did Donovan get away without a card after that “solidarity” move at the end?
New Rev Banners
by tedski
I’ve been told that Rev fans will be deputing new banners at the stadium today, each one commemorating a different player. Most of the old ones will be retired, especially the ones that are no longer relevant (No “Camel City Bomb Squad,” but they should bring back the “King of Bling” and “Causey Rocks” just for the heck of it.).
Rev über-fan Evan Whitney has the banners posted at his site. Or, you can tune into Fox Soccer Channel in a couple of hours…

A bunch of guys who let the US score three times, all on set pieces, and maybe like twice made Timmy put down his crossword puzzle.

Just got this in my e-mail box. I’m on a Polish-American listserv, which is a great way to get kruschiki recepies. Anyhow, here it is:
Beenhakker names veteran Poland squad for friendly with US
The Associated Press
Wednesday, March 19, 2008WARSAW, Poland: Poland coach Leo Beenhakker named a veteran lineup for next week’s friendly against the United States.
Defender Arkadiusz Radomski returns to the team after sitting out most of 2007 due to injury, and looks set to join fellow veterans Jacek Bak and Michal Zewlakow in the back line.
Injury has forced Beenhakker to drop Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski, who developed into a key player on the right wing in qualifying for the European Championship. Wojciech Lobodzinski is likely to fill in for Blaszczykowski, joining Jacek Krzynowek, Mariusz Lewandowski and Dariusz Dudka in the midfield.
Poland is using the match as preparation for the Euro 2008 tournament in June in Austria and Switzerland. The Poles are in Group B, along with Germany, Croatia and Austria.
In the attack, Maciej Zurawski looks set to pair up with Racing Santander’s Euzebiusz Smolarek.
Poland and the U.S. last played in March 2006 in blizzard conditions, with the Americans winning 1-0 on Clint Dempsey’s 48th-minute goal in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
It’s Me, the Big Jerk

I started this here blog with Hoover Dam, and then I stopped posting on it. I’m such a jackass. Given that the two of us are MLS fans, I guess it makes some sense, since it is the offseason.
Here I am; the prodigal son has returned.
I was talking to my friend Magdalena, who is a fan of the game in the generic sense, but lacks an allegiance to any particular team. In fact, she even lacks cable service, so even if she had a team, following it would be a chore.
The other day, a friend of hers and I were giving her suggestions as to good movies she should rent. She said, “You should write these down for me!” Well, here I go in no particular order:
