Not believing the hype

Fox Sports ran a headline about Atlanta United stating “These gorgeous goals are the surest sign Atlanta United might be for real.” It’s a sentiment I’ve seen in plenty of other places in the soccer interwebs. Hold on for a…

Be Careful What You Wish For, Kei

Yesterday’s headline in the Bent Musket: Kamara Hoping Weather Is “Cold Enough” for Revolution Home Opener Today’s press release from the team: FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution’s match against Orlando City SC scheduled for Saturday at Gillette Stadium…

Weirdest Preseason Incident

So last week, I’m hanging out with a couple of staffers for the Colorado Rapids during a practice. “Hanging out” may be putting wrong. Really, I was just standing there while they talked to each other. Tim Howard was injured…

Maybe not cool the way it happened. Obviously, they have a lot to work on with video replay. The way it changes games, it’ll be interesting to see. Hopefully, they’ll get it right before they start using it. They said were going to select games to use it in after All-Star break, which is kind of absurd if you do it that way. Obviously, there are games where people would have an advantage because of video replay, and other games where people don’t. It would be an uneven playing field, if you ask me. – Houston defender AJ DeLaGarza on video replay in an interview after practice yesterday. A replay of a foul committed against DeLaGarza last Saturday resulted in David Villa being ejected.

Full Circle for Donny

I had a chat with Jonathan Pearlman for a piece I wrote about Donny Toia in the Tucson Sentinel. He touched on Donny’s time at RSL, which didn’t result in any time on the field for the full squad before…

“The thing about Donny that made him attractive to Orlando is that this is a guy who has worked hard to earn his spot; he’s played in Azteca; he’s played with Didier Drogba; he’s playoff tested; he’s a player who can play multiple spots.” – Jonathan Pearlman commenting on Donny Toia’s move to Orlando City SC

Monday Morning Centerback

I went crazy with the footy watching this weekend, but I’ll only do one entry this week. Sunday Colorado Rapids 0 – Seattle Sounders FC 1 So, after years of Sigi Schmid tried to get the Sounders to an MLS…

Revs Righted?

I gave Jose Bosch grief after he put out a press release extolling a two game winning streak from Arizona United. Two games is not a streak, but an “in a row.” Three? Three is a streak. I don’t want…

Tedski’s Week in Review

I just wanted to gather up all the little things I haven’t written about this week and wrap it into one post. It’s a lazy way to blog, but eh? Welcome to How Flair is Punished’s version of a clip…

The Stars We Are

Caleb Porter’s press conference after his team’s loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy was a bit more introspective than I’m used to from him. He waxed philosophically about the “cruelty” of the game. Cruel indeed. The Timbers dominated that match…

I am a Kamara

While FC Tucson was busy making short work of San Nicolas, the Revs front office was furiously cobbling together a deal for Kei Kamara. In the short term, it seems good for the Revs. They gave up no players, although…

And another tie…

In 2014, the Chicago Fire set the MLS record for most ties in a single season with 18. My slide rule says that at the current pace, the New England Revolution is set to beat that number on July 23rd.
